Recycled Book
Cheer USA becomes Waste USA
This assignment was to deconstruct and then reconstruct a book using any material. I found a book titled Cheer Nation in the dollar section of my bookstore and bought it for the project. Wanting to make a play on the title, I began saving all my recyclable papers to represent a new concept: Waste USA. The paper collected includes almost everything from school handouts, notes, project mockups, tests, and even envelopes. I trimmed all my papers to size and made a new text block before resetting it back in the cover, which was covered with gaffer tape for durability. I cut through the tape in some areas to allow visibility of the chevrons, the only real element left from the former book.

It is interesting to note that the 500+ text block only diminished about half of the paper I had collected.
